Million Dollar Database
For many years the library has had access to the popular database RefUsa. Recently, we have started subscribing to a new database called Dun and Bradstreet’s (D&B) Million Dollar Database which can provide a great majority of the same information, just in different ways (although it does lack the residential directory. For those directories go here). D&B is basically a business directory which provides information on U.S. companies. It is great tool for finding company information such as SIC/NAICS codes, number of employees, annual sales, type of ownership, and names of key executives.
- Looking to find a job at a certain business? This is a great resource for preparing for an application or interview.
- Thinking about starting or expanding a business? Use D&B to determine markets by location and industry codes.
- Frustrated with a business and want to discuss your issues with corporate headquarters?! The Million Dollar Database will give you names and numbers of corporate headquarters.
Here are a couple of tip sheets the library has created to get you started using D&B for finding companies by industry and finding key personnel:
This is a fun and extremely useful database, so give it a try and if you have any questions, please contact your local library!
